Getting Started

iDrive EZ Traffic School is a California DMV-licensed, court-approved online Traffic Violator School that allows eligible drivers to mask a traffic violation, prevent points from appearing on their driving record, and reinforce safe driving knowledge.

You may be eligible if:

  • You received a traffic citation for a minor moving violation
  • You received court permission to attend traffic school
  • You have not completed traffic school within the last 18 months
  • Your violation qualifies under California Vehicle Code 1808.7
  • You do not hold a commercial license (unless cited in a non-commercial vehicle; additional steps apply)

You will need:

  • Your full name
  • Email address
  • Court name or court code
  • Citation/ticket/docket number
  • Driver License number OR birthdate (if no CA DL)

The course meets DMV requirements. There is no timed requirement, but the average student finishes in 3–4 hours.

Course Navigation

The course is broken into easy-to-read lessons with short quizzes along the way. A 25 question final exam is required to complete DMV requirements.

Yes — the entire course is mobile-friendly and works on phones, tablets, and computers.

Yes — your progress automatically saves.

The exam is multiple choice. Most students pass on the first try. If not, you may retake the exam for free.

Certificate Processing

DMV requires schools to process certificates within 3 court business days.

iDrive EZ offers same-day electronic submission when:

– You finish Monday–Friday,

– Before 2:00 PM Pacific Time

Completions after 2 PM, weekends, or holidays are processed the next business day.

Your official completion is submitted electronically to your court.
Student copies are not accepted by California courts or DMV.

Upon course completion, you can download a copy of your completion certificate from your course dashboard, for your records.

You will receive:

  1. A “Course Completed” email
  2. A “Certificate Submitted” confirmation
  3. Your court may update your case status within 7–10 days, and you can check the status at:  http://courtcertservice.com

Contact your court directly and provide:
Your full name
Citation number
Date of course completion
If needed, email us at support@idriveez.com and we will resend the certificate.

Court & Eligibility Questions

Yes. You must receive permission from your court before enrolling.

Your conviction may still appear on your driving record.
Refunds cannot be issued for lack of eligibility.

Commercial license holders may attend only if:

  • They were cited in a non-commercial vehicle
  • They complete the course
  • After the court and DMV finish processing, you must contact your local DMV Driver Safety Unit to request point masking

  • Weak WiFi
  • Browser issues

Make sure:

  • JavaScript is enabled
